It's got a new puppy that's going to be around 15-20 lbs when full grown. We have a life jacket for him but I'm thinking I might need to add some mesh at the stern of the open transom of our 343. It would need to be easily removable for easy access, etc.
Anyone done or seen anything of this sort?

We use a soft cooler in the space under the helm seat on our 423. Works for our terrier

Good one! She has access to the cockpit with a harness/PFDs on always since she hates water and would sink like a rock. We save the cooler for drinks

We had a golden for 13 years until he passed away last December. He name was GUS and we named our boat after him "With Gusto".

He swam off the back of our 321 often diving off the open transom. He put a life jacket on him and then attached a long line (old job sheet) and used it to make sure he came back. When he got to the transom, he could get out of the water with a little tug on the line and he was ready to dive back in... We miss him and may be selling our boat soon because of it (sailing won't be the same).

Sorry to hear about your dog, we lost our lab last November, but he wasn't much of a water/sailing dog. We still have our 321 (Four Grins) 7 years now.

Hey Ragbaggers,

So sorry for your loss. I know the pain.
Unfortunately, it lasts a long time.
I lost both my parents over the last 4 years or so and losing Gus was harder since he did not know what was going on. We still have his ashes and will put them in lake st. clair, exactly where he loved to swim.
