Does your 315 naturally list to port?

My 315 has a set list to port. About 1+ degree.

I have not overloaded gear or stuff on the port side. Dock lines bumpers, life jackets and a small toolbox ( 15lbs) in the port cockpit locker.

Is this normal on a 315?

Common with lots of Catalina and other manufacturers models, often to the side with more interior furniture.

It's common on the 310's as the batteries are on the port side.

It is common for a boat to list to port. That is unless it list to starboard.
1 degree is nothing. Moving the tool box might resolve that list, until one of your happy always hungry friends joins the crew.

Thanks for the responses. It doesn’t seem to be something to worry about.

I did notice draining the waste tank reduced the list. Never thought it would be such a noticeable effect on a ~11,000 lb boat!

Water and sewage weigh 8.333 lbs/gallon so even a full 10 gallon holding tank would weigh 83 lbs--plus the weight of the tank. Few owners have tanks as small as 10 gallons, so be prepared to be shocked when you find out what your holding tank weighs when it's full. Even a 5 gallon portapottie --portable or MSD--tank weighs close to 50 lbs when it's full. To compensate for the list this can cause, add an equal amount of weight to the other side. Some people use cement blocks...a few cases of beer would make re-balancing the load as needed a lot easier and more fun.

Peggie,

My holding tank is 17 gallons.

After three weekends it was pretty full. Pump-out took longer than I expected.
