Does the Raritan Tank Monitor Really Work?

Rartitan has a holding tank monitor with no parts installed in the tank (no probes, no nothing.) Sensors on the outside of the tank relay the level to the display. This sounds almost too good to be true. Any experience out there with it?

It's a more expenisve knock-off of ...

the Snake River Electronics AcuGage, Deb...and yes, it does work on any material except metal, by measuring the resistance between the foil strips on the outside of the tank. Raritan has only recently introduced theirs, and I'm a great fan of Raritan products...the quality of everything they make is outstanding. However, Snake River has been making this type of gauge water and holding tanks for more than 20 years, and I've seen many installations nearly that old that are still working--something I can't say about about any gauge that uses an internal sender. You might want to check their website (www.snake-river.org) and even e-mail Dennis Fierello (Snake River's sales manager) with any questions about the differences between the two brands.

Knock Off

Regarding the Raritan unit. Yes it is a knock off. But when someone knocks you off it is flattery. Yes there unit is more then twice the price as ours. I saw there unit adverstised for $169 but that only did 2 tanks. Our suggested retail is $159 for 4 tanks. Our unit has been in production for over 20 years. WE are improving all the time. Our unit is made in house, everything up to the silkscreened panel. We do monitoring and only monitoring. We don't sell toilets or anything else. If you have any questions please write me. Knock Off 2

Something I forgot. Raritan sells toliets. They have an excellent product for what they are famous for. I did not want to sound to hard in the last mail. We feel for them to Knock us off we have done really well. We are in the RV field, Marine and commerical fields for Liquid Level Monitoring. Also remember we do metal tanks via a rod in the tank using the same principal. We monitor Diesel fuel. We have a very long list of OEM's using our unit and it is getting bigger every day. Thanks again Dennis Ferriello Sales Manager Snake River Electronics

AcuGage

I installed a 4 tank version of the AcuGage last year. It has been great. I have 3 water tanks and 1 holding tank attach and knowing how full my holding tank is has saved me more then a few times. Highly recommended Rich Lemieux Amitie, C-36 1621 Noank, CT.

Thanks Rich

Rich: Thanks for your comments. We have a commitment to customer satisfaction. Since we only manufacture liquid level monitoring units we can devote all our time to this. Since we manufacture in house we don't have to depend on an outside source to produce our product. Dennis Ferriello Snake River Electronics

acu-gage question for Dennis

Dennis, I took advantage of a Christmas sale on the 4-tank monitor and want to get down to the boat and install it. Am I going to have problems making the tape stick in the cold, damp conditions this time of year, or would it be better to wait 'til the weather warms? My cudos for a great product. Tom

Tape

Thomas: It depends what you call cold. If it is below freezing I would try and heat the area a little. But if you can't heat the area I would probably wait till spring. Materials don't act the same when they are frozen. Dennis
