The Yanmar manual for our new to us '08 h36 states that biocide should not be used. There is only one brief thread in the archives that I found with no real answer as to why. One poster said algae grows in the water in fuel and eats the oil and forms the gunk in the tank... so just get rid of the water in the tank/fuel and all will be good. I used killem biocide, cetane enhancer and lubricity in my 2gm20f and the fuel always looked good in the 500FG Racor and ran well, but I understand the YM is a newer engine though.
Do 3YM owners use biocide, or do you all have polishing systems, or do a fuel change each year and siphon new fuel oil off the top of the 55 gallon drum as they show in the operation manual?
Thanks,
Dan
