I wonder if Roger MacGregor reads any of the MacGregor Owner's Forum entries? Does anyone know? Just curious! Happy Sailing, Vince

I doubt it

See my previous post. If they read it, I doubt it has much impact on what they do.

My guess

I'm guessing someone in the shop reads it and gets a chuckle out of it... I doubt roger reads it. Although... So many people complained on all the mac lists about the 26x's sailing characteristics, may have pushed the 26M into production earlier. I'm sure it had some of the push to go back to a daggerboard. I understand the 26d was the best water balasted "sailing" boat in the 26 class.

Maybe someone does

Hey Vince, I know someone from the MacGregor factory often contributes (using a pseudonym) to another site that deals almost exclusively with the 26X. He sometimes gives "inside" information and I'm sure he carries comments back to his "boss". On the other hand, you have to ask yourself, "Why should he?" When sales of a particular model plateau, you need to change the product in such a way that it appeals to a previously untapped cache of customers, certainly not the same people who already have (and are happy with) the older model. Remember, these boats typically last over 20 years. Apparently, the 26X was the mini-van of sailboats. Now, he has to develop the marketing equivalent of the SUV. It may seem like 5270 26Xs sold over the 7-year run is a lot of boats until you consider the entire boating population. After all, 5270 people wouldn’t even fill a typical college basketball arena. I can't wait to see what's next. Checkout the axioms on the link. Happy sails *_/), MArk
