Does anyone know the packing size for A C-30 stuffing box?

Hello all,

Getting ready to haul out tomorrow for some much needed maintenance & bottom job. Does anyone know what the standard size of the packing material is for the C-30? I am trying to get some items ahead of time, but it always works out that I have to pull the old one out to find out the exact size, before buying replacement material.
I would also like to poll what packing other sailors prefer that lasts.

If you have an M25 engine, most likely a 1" shaft.

Thanks for the info. Wish we had a clearinghouse for the C 30 the way you have the C 34 info organized. Although much of this info seems to apply to both yachts.

has been trying to get the C30 web guys to start a wiki. So far, little success.But, jr, wishing they did simply means no one has yet. Our C34 association, like all others, is made up of volunteers, who, over the years, have written and stored and linked all that information. We've been at it since 1987. The website started in the mid to late 90s.

Ya gotta start somewhere...

And, as always, we welcome all to use the information we have there, which, as you noted, is pretty much identical to most C30 systems.

Not necessarily. It depends on the stuffing box, not the engine.

The packing size depends on the stuffing box, not the shaft size. When I replaced my box on my C30 it took a different size packing even though the shaft remained 1".
