Dodger:

Hello all,    I am working on major retro fits on the boat and have been thinking of building a hardtop dodger. A friend has a 36 foot sail boat and built his and it seems to be working well for him. So, if it is good enough for my friend, why not I say. My boat didn’t have a dodger on it when I picked it up, so I am not sure the max. height off the top of the cabin to the top of the dodger. Might any of you folks know the height of the dodgers off the top of the cabin? I would hate to build this thing only to find I am 2 inches to tall. I am thinking of a Stainless steel small dia. tube frame work, with grab bars that will fasten through the hard top. I was thinking I could run the hard top mid cock pit? Thinking a aluminum top might work? Or the 1/4” fiberglass panels ? Or have a canvas to fit and at the grab bar locations have a heavy pad built into the top so I can fasten the grab bars threw the canvas in to the frame work? I have not seen a dodger for the Vega for sale, does someone make a dodger?  Any ideas?Since I am thinking here, the lines to the jib. I have been looking at how the lines tie to the edge of the sail. Is there a good way to clean this system up? Would additional rollers from the winch down the deck work? It seems a Micro Traveler located on the deck or cabin roof might work pretty slick? I thought one could swing the jib port to starboard from the cockpit just using winches? I found a Mid-range Genoa lead system, is this the system that would work? Any thoughts? Thanks, Larry V-2761Sent from Windows Mail
