Dodger Pictures

I've posted the first picture I could find of a "soft" (Sunbrella)
dodger installed on a small sailboat. In this case it's a DANA 24.

I'll keep looking for a "Full" Dodger picture where the dodger covers
the whole cockpit area similar to a Bimini.

The material is Sunbrella on a frame of thick walled 1 inch 316 SS
tubing with Stratoglass (sp?) windows. The grey material around the
trailing edge is elk hide.

Of course this is just one way to skin the proverbial cat.

It depends on the conditions and the specific purpose you have in mind
of course but,IMO, a lot of those ones in the photos you posted were
much too big for use at sea in any kind of wind and, on a Vega, would
require raising the boom.

I remember seeing a full cockpit enclosure somewhere that looked
pretty good. Maybe Steve Birch knows were to find a photo of that
setup. I don't know if it was possible to sail with it up but the
design could probably be adapted.
