Seeing the interest in where, oh where to mount that solar panel, I posted some pix of my solution to the Photo Forum. The mount goes on top of the dodger where it is out of the way and not too subject to shade or shadows. It is made up of 1" SS tubing and SeaDog (or equal) SS fittings. If anyone wants drawings, just ask.

VERY NICE...

...solar mount! Yes, Dave, since you offered...I would very much like the drawings. It looks like the whole contraption easily removes for heavy weather as well. If you can send the plans as an attachment, my email is pbd@pressenter.com. Thanks!

MSOE.DLL for Dave

The link I listed is a Microsoft site that you can navigate to hopefully find the Outlook file extention you need to extract from your system backup disk or CD-ROM. Good luck.

Ditto here Dave

I would appreciate any additional info sent to Wilsonlaww@aol.com Also, can you quantify the output of the panel flat versus tilted given an hour and day you pick to use for an example? Scott

Still Trying to Hook Up Outlook Express.....

Thanks Yehudi, but for this old fart, it's still out of my reach. I'll keep trying though, and if I could post a bmp file to the Photo Forum, I'd do it. As to Scott's inquiry about the net gain from "aiming" the panel to get the sun's rays as close to perpendicular as possible, it's considerable. In our case, aiming the panel by raising it to approximate the course of the sun throughout the day at least doubles the output, probably more like triple. In the flat orientation, the panel only puts out 2 amps average through the day, while raising it produces 4-6A average. Remember, a 110-watt panel has two caveats that reduce the output: First, manufacturers all rate their panels +/-10%. Second, the output of the panel is rated at about 16.5-17-volts. Therefore, my 110W panel really only puts out 100W (otherwise,it would have been rated (and priced) as a 120W panel.) So, 100watts at 17-volts = 7Amps Maximum: Sunny day, Perpendicular to the sun. Believe me, 6 or 7 FREE amps per hour is TERRIFIC!! So, even with the caveats, solar panels are great. Quiet, efficient, care-and worry-free.......What could we complain about?
