I'm trying to find a 310 in the St. Petersburg, Fl. Area so JSI can measure to enable their building a dodger for me. They had built many in the past years but made a design change and have misplaced the actual dimensions. My 310 is on the hard in Michigan so we need to find one locally and get permission to board and measure.

Thanks Joe, I had checked with Warren Pandy at the Largo site and they do not have one in production currently...Lots of 315's...Warren thought there was one in Dunedin, Fl. But it was sold and is now in Jacksonville, Fl...There is one for sale in Palmetto, Fl. About an hours drive south. I'm trying to get permission to board her with the JSI rep. And get the critical measurements.. Thanks for the reply. Deke

Deke, B4 you go copying someone else's dodger, figure out what YOU want first. Why? You have to deal with a few things:

Do you want a high or low dodger. High dodgers make you look through plastic all day. If you're very tall you may need the height.

http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,7161.0.html

You will NEED side handrails for safety. Many dodgers, even from Catalina, do not have them. They are a SAFETY issue.

What pattern does the glazing have? I've seen some that were very strange, to say the least.

Our side glazing panels have separate covers for them (and we rarely take them off). Some have huge covers that are half the size of a small jib and hard to handle.

What kind of attachments for the cover? Those press-to-snap covers are a pain and end up denting everything. The twist fasteners are far superior for attaching the cover(s) to the dodger.

Sumner has posted here a lot about his dodger building and may chime in.

Good luck.

Hi Stu, thanks for the heads up. My problem is not with the design or hand rails etc. I need the basic measurements for the frame and canvas attachments so the dodger can be built here in Florida and taken back to Michigan this spring when I return home. I do not intend to copy off of another dodger manufacturer as JSI builds many if not most of the dodgers and bimney's for Catalina when ordered with a new purchase. I intend to stay with the "west coast" design with hand holds and intend to use lift a dot fasteners at the base attachments. I intend to design the glazing to be completely removable, the front will roll down and either store behind the traveler or completely off and down below. The sides will be removable as well. I have a furled main and do have some issue with height an visibility but do not have to trim the main sheet real hard to properly shape the leach so the boom should stay clear, but without battens, the main can't be trimmed properly anyway.
