We are buying a Hunter 212 and expect to take delivery in a week. When we bought it, we had asked for the dodger. However, now the dealer says that the company is currently redesigning the dodger (didn't fit around the hatch cover) and it won't be available until August, at which time Hunter has agreed to replace my hatch cover with one that is "dodger friendly." Has anyone else had problems? Also, has anyone tried another dodger company? Maybe the Hunter Owners' Emporium? Please advise. Thanks!

I have had the 212 since last year. The removable cabin "cover" is poorly designed from a security perspective. With the cover off, be careful not to step into the cabin while handling the main halyard. The boat does not handle much wind. I sailed on the bay in December. Maybe with mailsail tuning amd reefing, I'll do better this year. Oh, getting back to your dodger question: they have been tweaking this boat from the get-go. I have hull #10. maybe, the best is yet to come: increasing ballast via hull upgrade!
