By what means and where have other Hunter Owners marked their new vessels with the DOT / USCG official documentation number?

Stuck tight and out of sight.

I have a Passage 450 and I had a teak board prepared with 3 inch high numbers as required. I epoxied the board to the structural cross member inside the compartment, below the sole, that contains the seacocks for the engine intake and seawater intake for the mid-cabin head. I also used a permanent marker to write the number UNDER the board just in case it were pried loose or off for any reason. After it cured I epoxied the entire surface area of the documentation board. I was also going to epoxy it to the bulkhead inside the lazzeretes. It is supposed to be engraved or attached permanently to a structural member.

Lazarette

Used standard boat numbers stuck on the hull inside one of the cockpit lockers. Epoxied over them with one layer of glass cloth on top. Easily read when inspected. This was after a call to the Coast Guard Doc center for a recommended way to do it. Easy to do and looks fine. Must be put in so that no one can get them off without a grinder.

V-berth Cabinet

Under the v-berth vanity on the hull. Regular stick-on numbers and then varnishied over to seal them against the hull. This made them permanent because the numbers will always stay with the boat.
