Do you have more than one furling headsail?

I bought a new Profurl furler for my H30 awhile back but didn't have a headsail to fit it. I ended up buying a used 155% with a foam luff that is in pretty good shape. Well, I came across a darn near new, crispy 110% Doyle genoa in perfect condition for 1/5th the price of a new one. It was one of the "make an offer" deals and just gave a low ball offer.....he accepted it....maybe because it's getting close to Christmas. Anyway I have 2 roller furling headsails now, a 110 and a 155. Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?. Since I will be sailing an inland lake for the next couple years before I move her to the coast, I figure I can raise the 110 in the Spring and Fall and go with the 155 in the low wind Summer months. Anyone else keep 2 RF headsails?

Yes, I have a 155 and a 135. Don't think I will use the 155 hardly ever as I have 350 sq ft up with the 135. I think thats plenty for a 27' boat. Chief

I have a 150 and a 110. Both of my last two boats had two headsails.

When it is going to be windy for a while I put the 110 on. If lights winds are forecasted for a while I put the 150 on.

Also, if one sail blows out I have a backup. It is a good situation.

2 headsails is a good thing. When you want a 110, your 155 won't be any good when it's rolled down that far.

Seems unanimously agreed.........two heads are better than one! I keep one in the closet at home to avoid overcrowding in the sail locker.

On a new beneteau sense 50 decided to go with standard Genoa and a staysail. When the wind pipes up you want to move the reduced sail area towards the center of the boat reeling a Genoa moves it forward.

Thanks for the comments. Looks like I made a good decision especially for the price I paid for the 110. I got a feeling the 110 will see the majority of use.

A lot of 70's boats have a 150, 135, 110 and sometimes a storm board. My Ranger had a 170. I think you were supposed to sheet it to the dingy. Mostly they take up a lot of room down below. The 110 was by far my favorite. Then the 135. I rarely used the 150. I think Kito's plan is completely reasonable. The major advantage of the 150 over the 110 is off the wind sailing. If you don't race, my guess is that the 110 will stay on the boat all summer.

Actually I have 3 genoa's. The boat came with a 150 cable luff with an old Schaefer non reefing furler that I will try to sell but don't expect any takers. The only problem with my new 110 is it has forest green sunbrella and my boat came with sunflower yellow mainsail and pedestal cover. Too bad I am not a Packer fan.

My boat came with a 110, 135, and a 155. The guy before me raced and had the 155 on and it was well used. He'd switch out if he had too when the wind was really cranking. The 155 is a bit much for me, especially solo sailing, so I put the 135 on last year. Nice not feeling over powered when the wind picks up. Next year I will put a cover on the nearly new 110 and try it out.

To answer the OP, yes I have more than one head sail, but not by choice. Knowing what I know now, and if I ever have to buy a new head sail, I'd go for an "all season" maybe around 120-125?

coolbenns: go 135 as it seems to be the most versitile headsail. I have even used a 175 drifter and it was fun but for just sailing at hull speed the 135 gives you the best versitility as far as I can percieve. Chief

We have a Dacron 135 that is usually out for the first and last few weeks during breezy season and a nice crispy cross cut plastic laminate 155 for the rest of the year.
