I'm pretty sure this doesn't qualify as being dressed but it's what we do for Memorial Day and July 4.

I recently bought a full set of flags, but haven't dressed ship yet. When is that warranted, and what does one need to know to "do it right"?

Yes, I love it. When? Tradition has it: 1st time in a new home port, major holidays, special events.

Me, I do it whenever the spirit moves me. Flags on front and back stays, all the way to the mast-head.

I am like Scotty C-M, whenever the spirit moves me. But I do it on major holidays and birthday, or other occasions.

The recommended order for the flags are:

A B 2 U J 1 K E 3 G H 6 I V 5 F L 4 D M 7 P O Third Repeater R N First Repeater S T Zero C X 9 W Q 8 Z Y Second Repeater

Here is a website that shows the flag in that order: http://www.sailorschoice.com/seamanship/dress_pennants.htm

Enjoy and dress the ship for Thanksgiving. You will draw attention to yourself so just beware you will be answering a lot of questions. :)

Dressed Out

The smaller flags are US, Virginia, US Navy, Old Dominion Univ, Virginia Tech, Marymount Univ, Univ of Mary Washington, George Mason Univ, Leukemia Cup, Quantico YC, Past Commodore, Blackbeard's, BoatUS, Redskins, Slye Strong.

For the big one's you all should be able to figure them out. Big hint, the top one (white with blue) symbolizes "One Nation Under ..."
