NO they do NOT blister--they WONT blister, as the compound they were laid up using was toxic and the gelcoat was hand painted on the mold....classic and awesome find....goood workThere's a 35' 68 Chris Craft Commander for sale for $14,900 in my neighborhood. Comments?
scott, darling--a chris craft commander is a stinkpot runs on gas and is a sexy baby--hull is 2 1/2 inches thick fibegrglass.--they can ask all they want to here--i will answer them without attitude--they are a classic and gorgeous....chriscraft also made sailboats but they had issues--the commander just needed a mast and woulda been perfect lol....i had chris crafts--1967 commander --fiberglass and a 1965 cavalier 35--glass over wood....i studied the chris crafts in depth--became an expert on them, yes.i worked with my sailboat manufacturer in 1990 and learned a lot about the layup of glass boats and the compounds used in 1960s to now---i have apprenticed with surveyor..what do ye wish to know--i know engines and glass and many things ye dont know--i think the man is in good hands with my answers.......and yes, i DO know that the chris craft in question is a power boat----oh yes--i have been around boats for over 50 years..since i was 7 yrs old......learned on gaff rig--taught by tallshipman..family owned great lakes shipping company -- are my credentials good enough for ye?????...if the only chris ye have seen is a sailboat in an anchorage, then ye should maybe allow someone else to answer the question who may just know about the boat in question--many sailboat owners have had " stinkies" --and they arent a bad kinda boat--lots of fun and comfy..twin engines are a gas..nopun intended....have a nice evening and smoooth sailing....there is a place in this world for each--power boats and sail boats--both are fun and both have gooood uses...LOL.......I'm not sure what a Chris Craft "commander" is but I will assume it's a sailboat or you wouldn't be posting on this site. I believe Zeehag is confusing it with a power boat. Never heard of sailboat with twin 427's or 283's. I owned a chevy with a 427 back in the 60's. My only experience with a Crist Craft sailboat is being at anchor twice next to one. They were beautiful boats. Peggy's advice is excellent - take it.
