Do I need to change the sheave?

On my 1981 Hunter 27 I'm considering changing from the wire/rope jib halyard to all rope. Does anybody know what the recommended rope size and type would be? And do I need to replace the jib sheave? thanks

As for line size, 5/16" will be plenty strong enough. You could bump up to 3/8" for hand comfort. Bigger than that will start to cause too much turning friction.
