Jib tracks (with moveable sheaves) allow you to do several things:a) you can set different headsails using the same deck hardware. I have a 140 genoa and a 110 working jib. By moving the jib sheave on the track I can set the proper sheeting angle for either sail.b) you can optimize headsail trim for the prevailing wind conditions. By moving the jib sheave forward or aft, you can power up or depower the headsail. This can reduce heel and improve both control and boatspeed.c) some manufacturers make mooring cleats that fit on the jib tracks. Midship cleats are very handy for rigging springlines when docking.d) the bolts for the tracks make handy places to install brackets in the cabin overhead for a fixed-mount VHF, stereo etc.I installed jib tracks earlier this year and they have improved my sail trim and boat control considerably. I highly recommend them.PeterH23 "Raven"
