Hi Guys,
First time on the site and thought this would be a great place to inquire about plans and resources for main and jib sail covers. Hoping to make my own and would like to know where to begin. Thanks for your help.

Several canvas companies sell roll ends of sunbrella fabric on Ebay. If you are not fussy about the color you use you can get very good buys.

For years I was a believer in Sunbrella fabric. Three years ago I had a mainsail cover made by Lee Sail Covers. It was made from WeatherMax80 instead. I bought it based on the price and assurances of Becky as to the quality and durability. To my amazement I found this cover to be superior to Sunbrella in every respect. It is stronger, lighter, and far far more stain and bird poop resistant. After three seasons of use it still looks and feels brand new. Best of all is the price. Well worth checking out.

take yuor old covers apart to use as a pattern. cut new fabric and sew together it's that easy.

We're currently assembling a mainsail cover kit from Sailrite. The kit plus shipping cost about half of what a completed cover would have cost.

Yes it would have been cheaper if we had sourced all the material, bits etc ourselves, used the old cover for a pattern, etc... but the provided materials and the instructions are top-notch, and it saved us alot of running around, and maybe some trial and error.

I have yet to purchase anything from sailrite, but I will. I have been impressed with their responsiveness and depth of knowledge.

Beginning of this coming month I am ordering a mainsail cover from this site. No measuring, just select my boat and BAM custom mainsail. Plus throw this place some bidness.

I have had a super secret strategy for my wife seeing the value in one. I have been having her rig the mainsail everyday and then like a angel's voice from heaven she said.... how much are those mainsail covers and do they have one that will match our boat? Why yes, jockey red is damn near a perfect match!
