DIY pop top tent (Merit 22)

Spring will get here eventually they say, so it's time to get ready in case an early overnighter is in the plans. I'm no seamstress but I guess it came out "serviceable" :). to install just pull it out of its bag and toss it over the pop top. no attachments to make as it has sand bags in a pocket sewed into the base around the circumference to hold it in place. I may sew in some small screen "portholes" at some point just for visibility...... or maybe not. material is a medium weight nylon from a portable 10' x 10' shelter I had gathering dust in the attic.

Certainly looks serviceable! When summer eventually arrives it could get hot under there. Are there flaps covering screens for ventilation and cooling? Great name too.

Thanks. no vents at the moment. it rarely gets too hot at night here but the doorway has zippers. the logo was part of the original shelter brand but I liked it so I sewed it on :).

Yesterday, I watched a Merrit 22 on a trailer heading from Seattle to Oregon on I-5.

It appeared to be a boat that was going to get some one-on-one attention to rejuvenate her. Too much traffic to take a picture as I passed her and the new owner. The driver of the truck was sporting a big smile. :biggrin:

aww yes. this is the first boat of a dozen or so that I've owned over the years that I'll be keeping the name. few people know what Glissade means but that's ok. some of us do ;). it's a dance move.

In Ballet that's correct, it's also used in mountain climbing, specifically snow or ice climbing...
