Hi, Last week our Monsun was lifted out of the water. The person who did, say our ship weight 6000 Kg. Is that normal? In every document we see that the Monsun weight 4200 Kg. And ofcourse, full fuel and water and other equipment, but that weigts not 1800 Kg Sombody Nows? Thanks, Joost

Ballast weight

Joost, I read an article recently, and the point was, these production boats stat weights are not written in stone, can be off 500 KG or more. I cruised in a boat that was ten tons, and was surprised to find out that my gear was two tons. 100 gallons of water @ 8lb per gallon is 800lbs or about 700 KG, outboard, scuba gear, canned goods it adds up pretty fast. If they weighed it in the slings, that would be pretty accurate. Hansys are great yachts.

Displacment

Hi Joost, We just bought and shipped our Monsun and the Travel Lift operator and trucking company both reported a measured weight of 9250 lbs (4200 Kgs) - right on the designed displacment. Did they actually weight it or just look up the stats? They claimed they weighed it, but I am skeptical. On the otherhand, the tanks were not full and there was not much gear aboard so maybe it is true. Chris Monsun #177
