Mainsail had an excellent how to with photos a while back. I installed a dripless on my shaft and have been very happy with it. Just be sure the spacer (as mentioned above) you use is slightly smaller than the shaft diameter to allow adequate clearance!! I thought mine was perfect but ended up scoring the shaft during the pressing operation. Had to remove the shaft which required dropping the rudder to machine the shaft for the new coupling- very expensive! If you do it right, you won't regret it. If you do have to replace the coupling, use the longer length split one.
My bilge is bone dry for only 10 times what it would have cost to do it right the first time!
It's not hard to do but take your time once you get it back together to get the shaft alignment as close to perfect as possible. Good luck
