Dipstick Length RC8

Can anyone give me the overall length(from top to bottom) of the oil dipstick for a 1980 H27 with the Renault RC8. The very end of mine is cutoff and I cannot check my oil level. I priced a replacement one and the outfit in Texas wanted $80 for it. Thanks for your help.

I have that very engine and will be happy to provide the data. I go in for knee operation tomorrow morning so it will take about a week or so for me to get back to you. Part number for dip stick is: 095-802-882. Now if I can just get the wife to let me go down to the boat next week I'll have the measurements for you.

Dip Stick

The length of the stick from the bottom end to the flange that stops the stick from going further into the block is 5 1/4 inchs. The length from the bottom end to the top of the full mark is 1 13/16 inchs.Enjoy

$ 80 thats outrageous

The tip of the dipstick had broken on the "Puffin's" former owner and he braised it back on and it later broke on me. I had to fish it out of the sump with a magnet. What a pain. The new stick was signifigantly cheaper than the price you were quoted, but it didn't work anyway. The stick they shipped wouldn't take the bend into the pan, and I wasn't about to force it. So I used the fill port to measure the level from after starting with a 1Qt fill to get a base line and just do it that way. Its a pain but it works alright. Oh someone please repost the new number for Renault parts, I need a new fuel filter for springtime and I heard that they changed the number...Good Luck Bob
