Brother has recently purchased Beneteau 423 and would like to remain at Sparrow Point CC Marina on Bear Creek, Baltimore MD where he had his former Beneteau 35. He needs to pass under a fixed bridge. To ensure safe passage, would like to know if it is possible to heel the boat with the boom abeam with a weighted end to reduce the vertical height of the top of mast above the water. Is there a formula that can be used to calculate maximum heel and the corresponding vertical height of the mast top above the water? P = 49.2 feet (Main top of hoist to deck) E = 14.83 feet (Main Foot length along Boom) Deck to Waterline = unknown Beam = 12 feet 11 inches Draft = 5 feet 7 inches Weight on end of boom to gain maximum heel = unknown Displacement = 19,400 lbs Degrees of Maximum Heel = unknown Strength of topping lift to support maximum heel = unknown
