Hi, everyone. Looking into stowing an inflatable on the stern of my 310, using clip-on dinghy "davits" mounted onto transom. I reckon the only place is onto the vertical surface beside the handles at the swim ladder. Anyone done this? Thanks

Catching a wave

Haven't done this, but, I'd be concerned about the possibility of catching a wave when healed over while sailing. Since water weighs 62.4 lbs per cubic foot it wouldn't take much of a hit to cause some damage. As an alternative, we use an Avon 3.15 roll-up which we store on the coachroof in a partial rolled-up configuration. With it facing up and deflated I take the bow and fold it over the top of the stern and lash it to the handrails. If one was doing blue water sailing it should be lashed to something more substantial like through-bolted pad-eyes. To launch it I use a Schafer boom vang attached to the main halyard with a bridal and raise it up over the lifelines and lower it to the water then lower and attach the outboard. To retrieve it do the opposite.
