we bought a Walker Bay 8 Dingy... The dingys OK but i am having a tough time storing it on the boat. I can tow it behind in the bays and river.. But the ocean is an other story... i cant store it on the fore-deck it simply gets in the way of things.
and I'm not too sure if i want to put it on davits in the rear.. it would also be in the way and catch waves and winds ....does anybody have any ideas or suggestions as to where to stow it... or any other suggestions as to other dingys that doesn't take up too much space .... thanx answers...pn

Not too many choices for dinghy stowage, are there. We have a 10'-2" inflatable that stores OK on our foredeck, and your boat is 2 feet longer than ours, so it would seem OK to store on the foredeck, but you say it's not, so who am I to argue? Sure, I have to maneuver around it, but how often do you have to go up forward when it's stored there, except for anchoring, at which point you drop the dinghy in the water first. How about that approach?

I store a 10'4" dingy on stern davits no problem. Do it right and the boat is well clear of the water, even on heel. You strap the dingy down to prevent it from moving about.

I would go with davits and then spell the little boat "dinghy" because dingy means something completely different. ;-)

On a Beneteau 361? How about below the boom? This is where I store mine.
Not the best option for visibility but it's really out of any working areas.

Thank you 4 all the good advise. As you know on a 361 there is a Head-stay and a halyard forward of the mast. So that leaves out stowing a Walker Bay there. And if put back of the mast than the dinghy would cover all the lines etc...
As to storing it on davits, i don't know but - if high seas it seems it would cause a problem, esp a hard dinghy like the Walker bay 8.
i will get a W. Marine RU-260, its small enough to stow when in the bag forward either on top deck or in the forward cabin... and when in port i can hang or stow it over the side using the forward spinnaker halyard. Thanx your help on this... pn

I got a Walker Bay 8' when I bought my 331 and the previous owner use to just pull it up on its side on the swim platform.
