looking to install stainless dingy davits on a 2001 290. Has anyone done this? what brand? Mounting is tricky with fuel and waste tanks. Frank

A couple of things to consider:
can the first mate see aft with the dingy on the davits?
is the stern light going to need moved?
What do you do when it rains and the dingy fills with water? (several hundred lb of water will really ruin you day)
If you have a walk thru stern how will that effect operations with a dingy in the way? (don't even know if this is an issue)
Will the marina charge you extra now that your boat is 29+ feet long?
How will the dingy on the davits effect docking, is the slip long enough?
I had davits on my 30' Catalina and I was a real pain. The 8' long dingy was wider than the boat and it made docking stern in difficult, the marina wanted to charge me for the "extra length", it obstructed the 5' nothing first mates view aft, it did not work well in bad weather...... a real pain. Towing the dingy was much easier as the only thing we had to do was move it forward when we docked and occasionally secure it at anchor.
