I am looking for options for installing davits for an inflatable on the stren of my PS 37. Anyone out there have any experience with this - good or bad? What is the best way to carry an inflatable - on deck, in davits or deflated stored away? Open to ALL suggestions and recommendations. Regards, Greg S/V Lagniappe

Davits are for inshore sailing ......

For offshore sailing I either roll up and store my dinghy or invert it on deck and securely tie it. Davits are nice & convenient but in a large following sea as encountered offshore you dont want the exposed dinghy on davits to get ripped off the boat when a large boarding wave 'poops' the boat, etc. Even inverted and tied is vulnerable (but rarely) to get torn away in the open ocean.
