Dinghy Seat Storage Bag

We bought a new smaller dinghy since we put davits on our narrow transom. The old dinghy was about shot anyway. To keep most of the stuff off the floor and out of the way, I made a storage bag out of sunbrella. It has flaps on both sides to keep out spray/water. It's easy to remove, held down with 6 snaps.

Nice work and design, Mary. I made one for our last dink, and will be making one for our next. I used phifertex on the bottom so that it could drain and a zipper to enter the one main chamber. I like your pockets for dink papers and such and plan to use it on my next one. That was a very good idea to be able to keep smaller items separate from lights and vests in the main compartment!

Thanks. I'm thinking about putting a small grommet at the bottom of each compartment just in case it needs to drain, but I'm hoping the flap keeps water out.

Very nice. Ours has a piece of foam sewn into it to provide padding when seated.

Nice job! I wish I had seen this about two weeks ago. I just got finished building a new seat for ours. Built a shelf in under the seat.

FYI.... We got caught is a bad blow, last summer, which "sailed" our dinghy. It flipped over and tore the seat out of it. Never did find it so I had to make a new one this winter. Anyway to keep it from happening again I put eyebolts in the new one and now clip it to the transom so if it happens again the seat will just drag along behind and we can recover it. Probably not something that you have to worry about with Davits though.
