I am the owner of a Hunter 310,1999.Recently I purchase a Zodiac Fastroller 285(lenght 9' 4", 73 lbs) and a Mercury 6Hp (55 lbs). What is the best way to install the motor on the port railing and to attach the dinghy to the transom? Transom mount weaver Davit? I am only sailing in river and lakes. Thank you

RE: Your dinghy

Why not just leave the dinghy on the mooring? If you are on an extended trip just pull the dinghy up to the transome and let the stern turbulence help to tow your dinghy. This is not a good idea for open water with sizable waves but on relatively flat water it works great.

Zodiac Fastroller

Hi, Michael. We bought a Zodiac Fastroller last season and were very impressed with how well it tows and how little drag it has compared to our previous dinghies. It has little skegs on the bottom. We always had to do as Alan said (drag the dinghy partway up on the transom) and that works especially on our 37.5 with the type of swimplatform we have. We put our outboard on an Edson motor bracket. Alice A.
