Ahoy Hunter owners!! I just bought a used RIS 9 ft 75-100 lb inflatable and I am in need of finding a davit that will work on my boat. I don't have the walk through transom and of course the tail has the slant. I have seen some davits on some sailboats around in my marina they are white and not much too them. However the makers name is not on them so I don't know what they are. Does anybody? And does anybody have any other ideas. I tried putting the thing on the top of my boat but I don't really like that plan it is just in the way and a little too heavy to be heave-hoing on and off the boat. Thanks Susan "Slippless in Seattle"

DINK

i HAVE A 450 THAT HAS THE REAR OPENING THAT COMES IN HANDY,BUT i STILL TOW MY DINK AND MOTOR[OOPS]and O am going to paint the bottom this year to avoid growth and leave it in the water, that was my first year sailing. No matter what you do it becomes a pain in the tooter to use it when it is top side. When I am going to stow it topside I use the boom along side, but I have the furling main and it is an easy task to lift boat and motor and take it from there, either in one shot or two. I am most sure you can improvise some way with a block on the end of the boom and do it manually MCBUBBA720@AOL.COM=========LIVE ABOARD IN N.Y.

Have the same transom. . . .

and the same question. Jim's idea for the "C-Lift" might work. But it requires thru-bolting close to the bottom, a real fun task. Too many of the options use the railings for support, an attachment I am not fond of. But some places to look include: Edson(expensive): www.edsonintl.com TIQ: www.topsinquality.com Horizon: www.onlinemarine.com Forespar: www.forespar.com

We currently........

we currently tie the dinghy onto the back of the transom of our 376 in much the same way as these plastic "C"'s. It works well but I would like it to be easier done. One of the things to keep in mind is that our dinghy will drag on the corner when we are over heeled on a close haul. This is also a function of a lengthy ding. I think that mounting this "C" on top of the aft lazarette might work fine. It should make the through bolting easy. The lid to the lazarette is substantial enough to carry the downward load imposed. Just got to watch out for dunking the dinghy on close hauls. Really, you shouldn't have the ding strapped up like this fro heavy sailing anyway. You also need to be careful, as the aft navigation light is blocked by the ding in this "up" position. We have found that pulling the bow of the ding out of the water and tying the bow high up to the stern pulpit greatly reduces drag. Just the stern of the ding is actually in the water. Just gotta watch those thrusty reverses! The ding wants to plow water in this position when reversing. I'd be curious to know how you do! Good luck Mike D
