Our new 33 was delivered a month ago. Last week the boat went into the water and the Mast was stepped. We are hoping that the commissioning will be completed in about a week. We have shopped for a dinghy and a motor. Our dealer, Govert J. van Vloten (dba Mid-South Sailing) in Gulfport,the oldest Hunter Dealer, has been wonderful. Govert is very knowlegable and has advised us about what is good and how to save money on items that we don't need and will regret later. Govert said we need a dinghy which is just right, not too big, not too small, and one which is easy to store and care for. Likewise Govert advised us to get a light weight outboard for the dinghy for ease of use. We have purchased a 3.5 HP which weighs less than 30 pounds and easily fits in the truck of a small car. I have determined that the Hunter 33 does not have a flat stern rail becuase of the curve in the stern seats, so the typical T-mount for the dinghy motor will not fit. I plan to take the motor to Lee Creekmore who is commssioning our boat. I am sure he will be able come up with the best solution which could be carving out a T-Mount to fit the curve or attaching a mount to the arch. If anyone has any ideas, let us know.
