Dinette Table Hunter 1988 30'

I am a new owner of a used Hunter 30 1988. I am trying to lower the dinette table to convert to a berth. The dinette is "L" shaped. Does the table post retract? The table post has not had any maintenance since I bought the boat two years ago and from the way the previous owner maintained the boat, probably has not seen any maintenance from him. Any instructions or suggestions on converting the table to a berth is appreciated.

I am sure that you have figured it out by now. But, just in case ... my '93 30T has two clamps under the forward end of the table. Both must be loosened inorder to drop the table. I have a rope that goes inside the mast supprot that has counter weight attached.

The 88 / 89 tables do not have the weight and rope. Loosen the knob on the post and push down "evenly". You may need to rock the table a little to get it started. It is spring loaded but you'll probably need to help it back up to the upright position
