Here are some photos of the drawers and new galley I just installed in our 1982 27' Dinette model. The drawers are set parallel to the dinette with the fronts angled, this way they can be a lot longer. I also made 3 drawers instead of 2. I added a shallow drawer under the dinette, this would also be a good place to install a flexible water tank. The galley is 2 3/8" wider from companionway to portside, this way the drawers are wider. I added 2 small drawers below these. The galley uses the same ice box and sink from the original galley, I added pressurized water water heater and a shower mixer for the galley sink(reaches into cockpit). The galley has a large drawer under the stove and a storage area behind the stove that will hold 2 full bags of groceries. There is a drawer under this one that will hold 4 disposable propane bottles and a door to access the water system and thru hulls. The small upper cabinet is large enough to hold 6 dinner and 6 salad plates. The same cabinet is on the starboard side for the new electrial pannel(got tired of kicking it under the galley) Battery selector switch is to starboard of ladder. Water heater is installed aft in the quaterberth. Still planning more cabinets for access where I can get them, seems some thru hulls are in "STUPID" locations that waste a lot of space as well as hoses and mancerator pump. I think this is enough work for now need to get sailing! DavidH

Excellent work

Excellent work and it leaves me with the feeling there is hope for my boat. In the early production years of the Catalina 27, what were they thinking? Storage wasn't functional, especially when it came to silly things like dishes and pots and pans. And I will even refrain from ranting about the space that should have been an anchor locker. Your pictures look great and you must love being on your "new" boat.
