Dimensions of the steering wheel hunter 340

Hello!
I want to cover my h340 steering with new leather. I know the diameter of the wheel but not the diameter of the pipe.
My boat is 320 km away from my home. my question is whether someone would call me the diameter of the pipe.

GER, our 1999 model has a 36 inch Edson wheel with leather cover. I'll be on the boat this weekend and can measure then, but the dimension will include the thickness of the leather.
