Looking at a wtr level gauge for the fwd water tank and was wondering if anyone knew the depth of the tank off hand. Won't be at the boat for a few days and wanted to order one. I think it's about 14", so the probe length may be a problem with only an 11" depth as ideal(deeper tanks require considerably more effort). I guess I could just mount it lower in the side of the tank too. Here's the DIY install link to the $50 gauge that may help my all too often abrupt end of fresh wtr. http://www.aroundoz.com/diy_archive/water_gauge.htm Thanks, MKS

monitor

There are two ways to monitor a tank. First is to cut a hold and insert a device into the tank itself. Too much work and trouble. the other way is to add an electonic metal tape to the side of the tank and then run that wire to the monitor. This is easier and suggested. Either way, you will have to pay. A device by Material Sciences is called the Sensa Tank Marine 100. Suggest ordering this from HOW Chandlrey. Even Practical Sailor has recommended this one over the others. I have used others but one company in particular is a pain in the butt to deal with. Suggest the one above. If you are cheap, then put down red cool aid mix into the tank and then the pain of raising the cushions all the time is an ugh in the royal patute.

Size is everything

Squeezed my upper torso down in the very large fwd hold to measure the stock 20gal tank and it is indeed only 12" deep. This should be fine for the probe length of 11". Only $50 for the complete Aussie made water level indicator is too tempting compared to others that start at 3 times as much so the order goes in today. I'll post my review of the simple install and results in a couple weeks. Now to find room for another 10-15gals of storage on board. Dave, Searched the chandlery for the sensa 100 to no avail. While I am somewhat "cost conscious", I'll hold off on the cool aid advice. That was crazy...:). Thanks for the input. Michael

where to find

Suggest emailing Phil Herring to see if he can get it. If not, you will find it at West marine. Check Catalogue.
