Can anyone tell me the difference between the 22 and the 22mkII? We are looking for a first boat and have found one but I'm not sure about the model. Also any suggestions on first boat buying and reasonable prices would be appreciated.

Aloha My first boat was a C-22. It is a great boat to learn on. It cost me $3000 for a 1974 in great shape. I sold it for the same after 2 years and moved up to a 27. But after all is said you cant go worng with a C-22 GREAT BOAT Good luck

They changed the keel on the MkII. Went to a fiberglass covered lead keel instead of cast iron. Also changed the cabin interior. Made the cabin wider and took out the dinette. Went back to a slideout galley. I hear that the MkII is also lighter than the later C22s. Visit www.catalina22.org and look at the brochures.

http://www.planetcat.net/used/I have a new 22mkII, bought it last november. It's incredible, and I waited almost a year to get this version. It's much wider inside, etc.A near perfect boat!
