Who can tell me the difference in the Macgregor 26 C, D, and S models. I assume the "D" model has the dagger board? I am looking at a 1993 26 Mac with a centerboard and water ballast, but the owner does not know which model it is? Any help appreciated.

When will it end?

Yours is the swingboard, (S) the d is the daggerboard, the C is both. (There is no C, officially) it is our name for the nonpowersailor/planning hulls)(C is for classic,ie older models) (somebody shoot me). John S, :post your Classic message):-0 Both are great boats.

Like our pres, it is a "W"

The HIN designation on every MacGregor 26' built prior to 1995 was "W". Whether dagger board or centerboard, they are all considered the same model by the Fed. (and Roger MacGregor) The other alphabet soup is short-cut by people who needed a concise method to specify "swing keel", "dagger board" and "classic".
