I have had my boat for almost 2 years now and this question has always vexed me. I have contacted Farr Yacht Design and was told that the 445 was a knock off of the First 45f5, which was a Farr hull and Pininfarina (designed of the Ferrari Testarossa I believe) deck design.

I have assumed all this time that the 440 was the production boat, while the 445 was specific built for Moorings group.

Recently I was on the Doyle Sailmakers site getting a quote for a new sail and when selecting the boat there was an obvious different between the 440 and 445, which does not surprise me because the charter boat could have a different sail plan. But it also showed differences in length of the hulls.

You can get more specific information from the Beneteau site about the 440 but nothing is there about the 445.

Does anyone have any more insight on this issue? I would greatly appreciating a full understanding of the differences between the two boat. A comparison to the First 45f5 would be great as well.

Cheers

It's likely the same boat as 440. Moorings tends to change the last number of a model when they put it into charter. Try doing a search on the 445 and see what you find.
