Capt'n Bob

My hunter 35 has a Yanmar 3GM three cylinder engine. Time for an oil change. What is the best diesel oil to use and where do I get it ?? RD

Shell or Chevron

Capt'n Bob: Generally Chevron Delo or the Shell Rotella (sp?) are premium Cx (compression) rated oils. They are generally easy to get too.

Rotilla is available at most auto parts stores. Yanmar has its own brand of oil that is available at your local Yanmar dealer. It's about a dollar more per qt., but is what they recommend. You will probable need to go to the dealer to get oil filter(s) for the engine anyway... so might as well get the oil there also.
