Diesel Generator to power Air Conditioning

My vega has had the engine removed. I am thinking of installing a
diesel generator in it's place to run air conditioning. Has anyone
else done this? Also I am preparing to tear apart the sink counters
and stove compartments. My boat has several rotten panels due to a
leak and a failed bilge pump. Is it best to remodel or cover these
pieces with new wood or veneer?

Hi guy's,
It was so refreshing to meet a couple with the same cruising idea's. We had a blast talking with you. I have found one of the sites that you spoke of as you can see. We have asked for help in our generator issue. I hope someone will give us some insite but if not we will do it anyway. As you know it's more of a health issue than anything else. Your boat is an inspiration to us! The motor installation looks great. Let me know when your gonna haul her and I will come help. Hope to see ya soon Sheila and Andi.

I don't know if this any help but thought I'd mention it. Someone is selling
an 11HP Kybota 2 cylinder 4.5 KW generator and a 135-amp alternator with
frame for $1500 or will sell in parts. It's in the San Francisco Bay area
and the number is 415 847-2685. Adveertised under gear in the May issure of
lattitude 38. I presume its diesel, I don't think I've ever heard of a
Kybota gas engine.

Good Morning,

Thanks for the blogspot.com address. I am enjoying it emensely. How was the weekend in LA? Hope all is well. Sheila and I are making all kinds of plans on our fixer upper! Let me know when you are going to haul out and I'll be there to help if needed. I am waiting for the rain to stop this morning so that I can think about going to work. Took a little job for a builder. He needs nine feet of hill removed from his foundation boards. How do you miss by nine feet! Ha Ha! Good for me though. Have you ever had any dealings with kerosine. I'm thinking of using them for anchor lights. Sounds kinda dangerous to me. The saving of the battery would be nice. Have you read about LED lights. That sounds like the way to go for us. Half the battery draw and five times the bulb life. Hope to hear from you and that everything is good.

Hi Sheila and Andi.

The trip to La. was good. Lots of crawfish and beer. Glad you 're
enjoying the blog site. It looks like sometime in June when we will
be hauling out. I'm waiting on a spare cutlass bearing in case I
need it. I'll keep you posted. I think the generator idea is great.
Are you thinking of gas or diesel? Gas may be lighter, smaller, and
less expensive but explosive, you will need to completely isolate it
from the rest of the boat because of fumes. Diesel will be (maybe)
more expensive but you can set it in almost anywhere you have room.
Diesel will also last longer and be more dependable in the long run.
It will be very interesting to see it happen. Let me know when you
get ready to do it.

Dear Robert and Carolyn,

Hope all is well with you and yours. Vallhalla almost sank last week! The bilge pump went out and it filled with almost three feet of water. I gotta get her hauled soon. Did you guy's get your cutless bearing adjusted? Not sure of the terminology! We look forward to seeing you sometime at the marina. Lots of new boats out there. The slip next to us has a new sailboat. It's beautiful like they all are. What do you think about the missing Vega? Hope they changed there plans like someone suggested and that they are fine. Sounds pretty scary for family and friends. See Ya
