Can anyone tell me what the best diesel funnel filter is to purchase? We are sailing to Mexico and Central America and have heard that there are problems with dirty fuel and we need to filter the diesel before using it. and what marinas are not putting in biodiesel on our route?

We used the Baha filter for over ten years and it is amazing how much stuff it kept out of our tanks. Keep in mind that this does slow down the filling process since the filters restrict the amount of fuel that passes through them. If they don't then they are not doing their job. The Baha filters gunk AND water which was very important to us. I can't speak for the cheaper filters. Chuck

I, too, think the BaHa is the best (and probably the most expensive). While West Marine sells a much less expensive water/crud separating filter that works (and is what I currently use even with a pretty competent fuel supply source), I'd buy a BaHa if I were cruising into water where the fuel supply is suspect.
