DIESEL ENGINE TEXT

Can anyone recommend an exceptionally basic text providing instructions for the maintenance of small diesel engines. I recently purchased a 1985 O'Day 26 with a Yanmar 8hp, but have absolutely no knowledge of diesel engines. I am not looking for a textbook on how to rebuild a diesel engine; simply a basic guide on proper maintenance and troubleshooting. Thanks,Bruce C.

I'd give Mack Boring & Parts in Middleboro, MA a call, they are the local Yanmar representative. They may have a basic guidebook on your engine, or at least an owners manual. The also offer courses in owner maintainence and basic troubleshooting. 508-946-9200

I know that you want something basic but you should look at Nigel Calder's amazing Marine Diesel book. Check it out on Amazon.com or your favorite site.

Yanmar help

BruceThe Yanmar manuals for your engine are readily available, I have a 1979 27 with a YSM8 and I purchased the shop book for less than $20.00.also, I have found help at this forum, not only other owners but pro tech help as well.(if you have a problem finding it email me)good luckRichJ
