When changing the spin-on fuel filter in my 84 Catalina 27, I dripped some diesel fuel on one of the rubber engine mounts. I'm guessing that this is not good for the rubber...what should I do to clean it up? Soap and water? Some kind of engine protectant/spray, etc.? While I'm at it is there anything I should spray on the engine block and transmission to protect them from corrosion over the winter? Thanks for any ideas. Randy

No Problem!

Its not going to be a problem. Just use a small bit of spill pad to wick it up and finish with a good old shop rag. My '85 C27 has a Univ 18 w/ a Racor 20micron spin on secondary/ with a sight bowl and drain valve. I can just open the valve and draw off fuel in the filter before unscrewing it. This keeps spillage to a minimum and allows water contaminants to be easily pulled out of the system. You shopuld only be replacing filters once, or twice a year, so spillage is too infrequent to lose any sleep.
