Hello SBO members, If you missed my thoughts and comments I have a perfectly good reason for my lack of offerings. For my lack of intelligence, however, I have little or no excuse! But, I digress.
My son and I spent 5 days in the beautiful state of Colorado! We were enjoying fishing in John Denver's "Colorado Rocky Mountain High. During our dad and son trip we enjoyed a half day guided wading trip on the upper Colorado River on Sunday. We did catch some Trout, but we also saw nearly 100 people floating past our location on SUPs, inflatable rafts of several kinds, and a few actual River Guide boats made of fiberglass or even wood.
Monday we enjoyed a half day guided wading trip on the Eagle River. Each of us caught several Brown Trout using wet flies called Midges and some described as Blue Wings. At the outflow of a VERY small stream we saw 6 to 10 trout lazing into and out of a pool at the mouth of that small stream. The guide said those fish are hard to catch because they are so well fed. The small stream is the outflow from the local sewage treatment plant!
Tuesday we floated with a guide on an upper part of the Colorado River. That was a blast! Imagine standing on a platform at the bow or the stern of an inflatable boat as it cruises through rapids. Again, we caught fish. Catch and release is our rule of thumb.
Wednesday's choice of activity was a bit embarrassing. We drove a side-by-side four wheeler in the White Mountain National Forest. My apologies to the few campers whose quiet we disturbed.
Thursday we headed home by heading to the Denver airport by 6:15 AM. Somewhere between the rental car, a stop for gas, the TSA inspection, and the Philadelphia airport I LOST MY CAR KEYS! After recovering from a "melt down" (that was by me) we rented another car to drive home (2 hours). Friday I returned to Philadelphia to retrieve our car.
Throughout the trip my son showed great patience with his father. He explained the finer points of fly fishing, untangled my line or retied flies onto my line, and finally, he calmly suggested the car rental method of getting home from the Philly airport. Someone raised a fine man! (I think it was his mother.)
See the pictures.
