I have been asked some questions about the battery upgrade so here is some info:

You can fit two Group 27 batteries into the battery box and possibly two Group 31 batteries (not 100% sure on the Group 31 batteries).

Here is a diagram of what I did:

Nope, 31s don't fit.
Also, here's another option that gets more House capacity....
Go to the bottom of the 'upgrade' page for Pix at http://backcreek.110mb.com/

Impressive. I am now carrying 220 amp hours with the two group 27 batteries. I bought them at Walmart for about $90 a piece. With parts, new batteries, etc I would say that this upgrade was under $400 bucks when I did it.

Thanks for the info, Bad O. I now have three 27s, two for house, one for auxiliary. Sears had a sale for $89 apiece. I'll get that link-10 next season and learn about my power usage. This season will be mostly shakedown and familiarization for us, so we'll probably spend less time on the hook and more time at the marina. Power won't be quite as big a deal until next year when we do longer cruises.

Thanks again.

Note that my electrician-designed arrangement provides 240ah house and isolates the house from the starter with an emergency connect switch -- will admit it is a bit pricier than your Walmart special!
