Hunter Passage 42 Shelter Bay, WA
This Tuesday we (total of six boats) cast off from the Everett Marina for a six week cruise to Desolation Sound. The plan is to follow the same route as last year; Coronet Bay to lay over for slack water at Deception Pass, then to Turn Island, Poets Cove, Ganges, Clam Bay, Nanaimo, and so on. Our boat is ready to go except for a few last minute provisions. Weather looks like it will hold; usually does this time of the year. The three that went last year will be among the lot, with three newbies. Should be fun and very relaxing. We'll spend most of the time on the hook in small coves and bays with short sails to the next anchorage. There we celebrate skipper's night with lots of beer and poo poos. The admiral plans to rendezvous with me once I'm up there. She has bigger fish to fry. So. it's solo for awhile. Terry

Envious! - and Tall Ships

Terry I'm envious. This is a great time to be out there before the crush of the crowds catching the end of summer. Just thinking about your route and timing - you're going to miss out on the tall ships going from Vancouver to Tacoma. I think the Lady Washington Lady Washington web site: http://ladywashington.org/tsc05.html Adventuress: http://www.soundexp.org/ship.info/history.htm

About 20 tall ships going to Tacoma

Oops - Looking at my previous post it appears a big chunk of my post didn't get posted. The Lady Washington and the other two going to Port Townsend are expected to arrive, I think, on Tuesday to take on supplies and paying passengers then depart early Wednesday (June 29) morning for Tacoma "to join the rest of the fleet". I was trying to find a site that gives the transit times for the other ships so I could go out there and get some pictures but couldn't find anything. Tacoma tall ships: http://www.tallshipstacoma.com/ships.html Anyhow,.... there is a good web site for the Tacoma Tall Ships rendezvous which is booked as the largest tall ship rendezvous in Puget Sound in "recent history" (I like that phrase). They also will have a few older woody powerboats. We plan to go down to Quartermaster Hbr and see them off to Tacoma. That's us and probably a flotilla of other yachties. Going out through Deception Pass on the ebb you'll probably miss them because they'll probably be riding the flood in to Port Townsend. But who knows, there might be some stragglers.
