Depth Sounder Problem

Greetings,

I was out for my spring shakedown cruise and my SignetMarine SL172 depth sounder failed. I have checked everything in the troubleshooting section and also connected a different transducer: just flashing 18.8, which the manual indicates means no signal. I am currious about what depth sounders everyone has and how they like them. Also, I'm looking at the Raymarine ST-40 as a possible replacement. Has anyone put a rectangular display in a round Signetmarine hole?

i also have signet instruments in round holes....they still are in business.....you may try sending the unite to them for repair or estement of repair ......i did notice on my friends boat with raymarine instruments that the face was sq and the body of the unite was round so you may not have a problem with relacing or upgrading them ....at any rate good luck with this problem ....

http://www.signetmarine.com/ has info on returns as well as the manual, which is sounds like you already have. Can't hurt to give them a call to see what they have to say.

The SL-172 was sent into Signet Marine. They found a bad IC chip. It was repaired and is on it's way back. The folks at Signet Marine are really customer focused. I was all prepared to install a new transponder. I was already to glass in a wet well and eliminate the through hull.
