I'm surprised ...

that you haven't had a dozen responses already saying to replace the depth sounder with a Fish Finder with a shoot thru the hull transducer. There have been alot of previous posts on this subject.I installed one of the Humminbird Matrix 27 fish finders and it works great. It works much better than the old depth sounder and you get to see all the fishies under you. Hard part was finding a place on the hull that the transducer works. See the previous posts about suggestions on how to do this.

thru hull

getting a new thru hull transducer with a fish finder will prob add $100 to the cost, you may be able to use your old transducer with a fish finder. with a thru hull like you have, you can get a fishfinder with speed, temp also. before throwing the old one away, mmake sure that all the wires and connectors are clean and the wire not corroded, cleaning the contacts just might bring the old one back to life.
