depth/knot meters on hunter 23

Hi,I just bought a Hunter 23. The depthmeter and the knotmeter don't work, I am thinking to buy the transducers (SR Mariner) and replace them directly.Is this a good idea? What if after spending the money and doing that still they will not work?Suggestions? Thank you much!

Roberto, Congratulations on your H23 purchase! You'll love the boat, and there are plenty of 23 owners on this site who give great advice on everything from sail trim to hardware installation, cruising grounds to tech specs. Welcome aboard! That said, I think we need some more info before we can offer meaningful advice on your instrument problem....Do the instruments even turn on?...Do they simply read "000" all the time?...Do they give obviously false readings?...Have you checked the connections between the display units and the transducers?...How about fuses? These are the first things I think of, though I'm sure there are many more things to check and ways to test the devices. Let us know!--Jon BastienH23 '2 Sheets to the Wind'

You can get them reworked

First off the 23 is a great boat. It amazes me the number of people that have trouble with the mast going up and down. I have done it with my 12 yr son. You can send your instruments back to SR Marner and get them redone. You will get new cases and they will be like new. The number is 800-654-6360. I sent mine in last year and it was around a $100.00 to get them working like new again was allot better than buying new. Well...let me tell the whole story.I bought it on 1/20. The same day I was opening a gate in my backyard to enter the boat and I stepped on a rusty large nail! I was 4 days in the Hospital, I had surgery and still I am on IV antibiotics! All I can do is look to the boat from the window! I can't weight to put it on the water! I never sailed before. The owner told me the electronic don't work. The battery is good but when I turn on the instruments nothing happened. I have check the paddle wheel and is damaged.I am doing a lot of reading on sailing.Did somebody capsized the Hunter 23? what happened?Thank you for all the information.Roberto.
