Hi Roy, we have the suite of Autohelm...
instruments on our boat and all still work (1991). One way to test the head is to scroll through the various settings referenced in the user manual. If those check out okay the problem could be in the transducer or somewhere in between. Begin by making sure that all connections are free of corrosion. Many of the transducers were and are still made by the same company (I have the name and phone number on the boat, a ways away). Hunter or Raymarine should have that contact information. They may have some tips on trouble shooting the transducer.I know that at times our instruments will act up, which will clear by resetting the breaker. Also, make sure you're getting at least 12 volts DC at the head. Reduced voltage, for whatever reason, can cause strange things to happen. The boat is in the water, right? It is unable to read depth while on the hard.Terry
